🐾⚙️🥕Steam Lab🥕⚙️🐾 Maysville Elementary 3rd graders visited the STEAM lab this week to read Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynolds and plan for a solution to Jasper Rabbit's problem. Classes were challenged to engineer a fence with a perimeter of at least 24 inches and a minimum height of 7 inches, using only craft sticks and clothespins. Some engineers chose to trade in a few of their craft sticks for additional supplies during their rebuild. Both Jasper Rabbit and the Creepy Carrots were happy with the design plans of our MES 3rd graders! Proud to be a panther. #PantherPride

She's on a mission to make a difference by designing clocks and raising funds for St. Jude Hospital. 💛 So far, Kadelynn has already raised $500 for this incredible cause, but she's not stopping there. Her goal is to reach $1000 to support the life-saving work done at St. Jude's. 🎨🕛 If you'd like to be a part of this heartwarming initiative, here's how you can help: 🐾Donate Old Analog Clocks: Kadelynn is turning these timeless treasures into works of art. ❤️🐾🤍National Ohio Day🤍🐾❤️ 🤍Maysville Elementary celebrated “National Ohio Day” this week by discovering important facts about Ohio’s history. 🐾Did you know that on this day in 1803 President Thomas Jefferson signed a decree approving the boundaries and constitution of Ohio? ❤️Throughout the day, students paired up with other grade levels to play Ohio Bingo, make new friends, and compete to win Ohio prizes. Life Savers and Conn’s Potato Chips were popular Ohio treats and several students were very excited to have a new Ohio pencil bag. Proud to be a panther. #PantherPride

Dear Parents/Guardians: Maysville Local School District is committed to the safety and health of our students and staff. We want to inform our families that a student in our middle school has been diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease. This is not an actual disease, but rather a virus that is common in children. Symptoms usually appear 3-6 days after exposure. Please watch your child for the following symptoms: Fever Sore Throat Runny Nose Mouth Sores Rash- most common on hands and feet but can be anywhere. There is no cure for hand, foot, and mouth disease. Since a virus causes it, antibiotics will not help. It usually goes away on its own after 7 to 10 days. In the meantime, you can help your child feel better with: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen or numbing mouth sprays. Do not use aspirin, because it can cause serious illness in children. Cold treats like ice pops, yogurt, or smoothies to soothe a sore throat. Avoid juice and soda, which have acids that might irritate sores. Anti-itch lotion, like calamine, for rashes Your student may return to school once they have been fever free for 24 hours with no fever reducing medicines and they have no open sores or blisters. Please notify the school office if your child is diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease.
